Optus & Elders Seek Rural Broadband Funds
December 19th 2006 07:35
The Australian reports that Optus and Elders have joined forces and applied for a slice of the $1.1 billion federal funding to build a national broadband network. There are 2.7 million households and businesses in regional Australia, and the two companies say if the government approve their proposal it will offer improved telecommunications services.
Telstra has also asked for $600 million to extend the reach of fixed terrestrial broadband to approximately 95 per cent of the population.
So who will offer a better deal for regional Australians?
