Ford Will Fall to Number 3

December 21st 2006 08:41

The New York Times reports that The Ford Motor Company in America expects Toyota to overtake it for good as the No. 2 company behind General Motors, in the American car market. Ford has held the No.2 position since the 1920s.

Only six years ago, Ford held a comfortable 25% of the American car market. But high gasoline prices, quality issues and a lack of fuel-efficient small cars have caused Ford’s sales and market share to tumble to just 15%.
