Europe's Biggest Second-Hand Record Shop is Closing Down
December 21st 2006 08:17
As The BBC reports world famous second hand record store Beanos, in the south London suburb of Croydon, is in the middle of a massive closing down sale.
Founder and proprietor David Lashmar announced in July that the store was no longer profitable and would be closing down and he is trying to sell all his one million items in stock by Christmas.
Beanos' decline has come around because of the reduction in the price in CD's. With over 60% of CD's selling for under £10 in the UK, people aren't looking for second hand albums anymore.
After selling all his stock, Lashmar will open up a smaller store which only caters for the high end of the market where prices are still good.
